Unveiling a Unique Steam Demo: Playing as a Turdy Character on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have found numerous entertaining indie games. However, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game lets you play a protagonist that is actually a turd trying to navigate to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
Player controls is simple: press a single jump button. In one hundred fifty levels, battle boss fights and unlock a shop to acquire outfits for your fecal avatar.
Execute your jumps with caution, as a error forces beginning again. Bounce on floating orbs to propel your character upward, navigate fragile surfaces, and touch buttons to unlock new areas. Gather coins to purchase challenging levels in which gameplay intensifies.
In terms of design, the game boasts vibrant stages and an amazing soundtrack. The simple graphics featuring morphing geometric shapes may remind fans of beloved games like Earthbound.
While it's difficult to think of similar titles where you are a coiled turd, interactive entertainment frequently featured fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from character waste. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ feces as plant food. Unsurprisingly, such content is present a lot in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Despite its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already received significant awards, like winning at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. A playable preview is ready at present on Steam, with the final release scheduled to arrive on Steam on November 19.
