The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: But It's Not the Vehicle Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only place where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The long-running series is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, if gamers will actually want to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle everyone is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would undoubtedly love to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed car the patriarch built personally in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what players are receiving. Not even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in the tenth season. Rather, fans are getting the Simpsons' everyday well-worn four-door, which has been in the family since 1989. Though this particular car has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the series. For those who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the Simpson family car uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the only customization item from the series coming to the game. The event will additionally feature a series of challenges to unlock more goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and drive a distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

Although the full lineup of challenge rewards isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is any indication, it appears fans will also receive rims with a television showing the show's title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

The Rocket League collaboration lines up with the major The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which brings a brand-new map of the fictional town, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration launches on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
