The tennis professional disclosed he thought about ending his career because of severe spinal pain during the season.

At 27 years old, the player once ranked as high as third globally, was a finalist against Novak Djokovic at both the 2021 French Open alongside the 2023 Australian Open.

Now ranked as the world's 36th best player after a limited schedule post a early exit at the US Open in August, he stated that ongoing treatment is finally showing positive results.

"I'm most excited is to observe how my body holds up under actual training with regard to my back," said Tsitsipas.

"My primary worry was whether I could complete an encounter," the athlete continued, explaining the pain plagued him "for the past six to eight months."

"I would wonder, 'Am I able to play in another match pain-free?'"

"It was genuinely scary following the loss at the US Open [to Germany's Daniel Altmaier]. I could not to move for two days. That's when you begin to question your career's future."

He also reported satisfaction regarding the present treatment regimen after finishing an extended period of pre-season training completely pain-free.

He is scheduled to compete for Greece in the United Cup, where they face Team Japan led by Osaka and the Great Britain squad captained by Raducanu. The tournament will be held in Perth and Sydney in early January, just before the Australian Open.

"The greatest victory next season would be to not have concerns over completing bouts," he stated.

"It provides fantastic feedback realizing you completed an off-season in good health – I wish for it to last. I aim to perform during the upcoming season and for the team championship.

"I have done the work. The most important thing is total belief in my ability to get back to where I was. I will try all means to achieve that."
