The Game UN:Me: An Cerebral Horror That Blends Silent Hill and Among Us Mechanics
The latest Day of the Devs online presentation unveiled several intriguing future games, but one in particular has captured attention: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo adventure appears to fuse together the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill title with the suspicion-driven core of Among Us.
"This is a unique game where a young woman harboring several personalities within her must escape from a labyrinth of the psyche," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai.
Entering a Shattered Consciousness
In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed heroine who appears to be of teenage years. Inside her reside four distinct personas, all possessing their own anxieties and drives. These souls can seize control at will, unleashing their deep-seated terrors upon her suddenly.
Based on revealed gameplay, much of the action unfolds within a creepy medical facility, though additional clips show the protagonist navigating a abandoned chapel.
A World of Individual Dread
"What are you fearful of? What causes you uneasy?" poses creative lead Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Small rooms. Authority figures. Things that appear minor to other people can trigger a deep instinct within us. This game explores that idea — fears that are unique to every individual."
The core gameplay loop revolves around controlling the persona that surfaces at any given moment. However, these souls will change against your will during gameplay. During exploration, every persona's anxieties become amplified and assault the girl in succession. When the soul changes, so does the particular terror the player experiences.
Unsettling Visuals and a Deadly Choice
At first glance, UN:Me shares striking visual similarities with the Silent Hill franchise. The setting is filled with orderlies all sporting the same face, with disturbingly broad grins. Patients in the lobby have large blooms growing from their necks are. Flowers are a recurring element, juxtaposing organic elegance with supernatural dread.
Yet, UN:Me introduces a singular twist. Players must determine which of the four entities haunting the heroine is the "real" one. "All four personas claims that the body is rightfully them," notes a creator. "During the game, you need to figure out who is real."
After a player have deduced a soul is an impostor, they must eliminate it. But, because each soul can deceive or obfuscate the truth, it is incredibly simple to choose incorrectly.
"Perhaps you've already destroyed the true [soul] by your own actions," a voice suggests. "The final entity standing could be a fake. Either way, your choices are final."
UN:Me does not yet have a confirmed release date, but it is available to wishlist on digital storefronts.
