Severe Precipitation Worsen Conditions for Displaced Palestinians in Gaza, Agencies Alert
Heavy precipitation over the past week have compounded the already dire situation of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted Palestinians in the territory, as stated by relief organizations.
"Awful" Weather Poses Serious Risks
A official characterized the recent storm as "terrible", with rain so heavy that as much as 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.
"The recent weather was truly difficult for the residents. The downpours were so strong... And the gusts were so powerful," noted the official.
Officials express extreme concern that minors living in makeshift shelters in wet attire will fall victim to hypothermia and other sicknesses.
Fatalities and Widespread Damage
Health authorities have stated that one baby has died from the cold and at least 11 other people have been killed in roof cave-ins caused by the storms.
Additional accounts put a increased death toll. Authorities said that multiple residential buildings had collapsed completely and scores had collapsed partially.

Humanitarian organizations have highlighted the need for "expanded and ongoing relief to respond to pressing and long-term requirements."
