Liverpool's Star Issues Statement to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the entire Liverpool squad after the uproar from his recent interview.
The Fallout
The striker was dropped from a European match after voicing frustrations and claiming his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has chosen not to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the team's response stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and it was business as usual,” he continued.
The midfielder also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “It's clear there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Their results have remained strong in the period after the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a good place,” Jones concluded. “That chapter is closed and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and starting to win games.”
