Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can now put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he cannot recall "one day without joy".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a separate essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate put a embargo on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the deaths, public individuals expressed divergent comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative remarks that were broadly criticized by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the detractors recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and suggested they demonstrated a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an aide could have stepped in when the decision to speak on the tragedy was made.
