Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation Consultants Participate in MPs' Grilling After Assertions of Bias in Disclosed Document
We begin with questions from Conservative MP Caroline Dinenage, who leads the panel.
She opens by providing context to the unauthorized memorandum authored by Michael Prescott and released in a national newspaper.
"It is not my wish for the British Broadcasting Corporation leaning toward one side or the other, I just want it straight, unbiased and just," he states.
In response to a query if he believes the British Broadcasting Corporation is structurally prejudiced, Prescott responds: "No, I do not. It is important to note, tons of stuff the BBC creates is exceptional - encompassing factual and entertainment shows."
Nevertheless, he states: "There is significant effort that must be undertaken at the BBC."
The second former external BBC specialist questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, says she views the British Broadcasting Corporation very seriously and that it maintains a "continuous process and vigorous discourse" regarding evolving and intricate topics.
"Whether the BBC was willing to engage in a proper conversation and argument and take action?" she questions. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
