American actor Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows such as "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California this Monday having undergone treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per reports.

"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a announcement.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Television Career

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he played the titular character's brother.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a social organizer who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, such as:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series over nearly a decade.

His film credits encompass It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Away from his television work, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.

"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils throughout the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared on social media.

Pat Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
