Chopper Spirals Out of Control into Palm Fronds at Frequented Southern California Beach
A helicopter hovering over a popular coastal beach abruptly began spiraling uncontrollably, ultimately dropping height and plunging into a row of palm trees as onlookers watched.
Videos shared on social media depict the helicopter starting to spin near the beach then descending in the direction of the border of the shore, where it gets stuck amidst palm groves and a set of stairs close to the coastal road.
Rescue Operation Update
Emergency responders reported five people were transported to a medical facility including two individuals who were in the chopper and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” following the crash on the weekend.
Three people on the pavement were injured. Details on their wounds were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was not immediately released.

Officials indicated the helicopter was associated with an yearly “Cars and Copters” charity gathering scheduled for the next day.
