Canada's Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting With defending champion Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden championship series after the 1993 season by defeating the Mariners in the decisive game seven of the American League Championship Series.
Down three runs to one, the star outfielder smashed a three-run homer in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the seven-game series. Next up are the defending champions, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.
"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "This is such an amazing experience."
George Springer has now slugged twenty-three October home runs, ranking him third in history behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not anyone else anywhere that I want up in that moment other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Wilson commented "there's no question that it's going to sting" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he continued.
The Blue Jays won the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
