Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Challenges Are Overly Demanding
The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, many players are voicing discontent with several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.
Users have commenced turning to custom matches created through the Portal feature to complete them, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.
Grasping BF6 Assignments
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four types of assignments, but while the majority simply offer outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the only way of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one key firearms found within the game.
A number of these locked weapons might eventually make their appearance on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash across Reddit
On Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. A particular gamer pointed out one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This mission is so awful and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and functions solely at very short distances, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Overly Demanding Task
One more community participant brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns over 200m with long-range weapons
This is difficult enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and maybe Operation Firestorm at a push if you want to snipe from a significant distance.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.
Yet, if completing the missions in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for grinding them out in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Future Adjustments
It is expected if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the locked firearms.
At the moment, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these demanding in-game tasks, hoping for a less arduous gaming experience in coming revisions.
